When Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson finally debuts as antihero Black Adam in the DC Extended Universe, he’ll first have to square off against his rival Shazam. Another matchup fans are dying to see is Black Adam against the Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel, Superman. According to Johnson, that showdown will happen.
“One fine day… that’s coming,” Johnson told Fandango with a smirk. “That’s in the cards.”
The Baywatch star recently hinted that he’d love Armie Hammer to play Shazam, saying, “A guy who I met, and after I met him I was like, ‘Man that guy’s such a cool guy, he’s a lot bigger than I thought he would be.’ And when I walked away I remember telling our producer, who I’ve worked with for a long time, Hiram Garcia, we both looked at each other and were like, ‘Possibly Shazam?’ I’m not even gonna tell you his name, I’m just gonna say Lone Ranger.”
Previously referred to as Captain Marvel, Shazam was introduced in 1940 by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck and debuted in Whiz Comics #2. by Speaking the magical word “Shazam,” young Billy Batson and is transformed into the adult superhero, who possesses the powers of flight, super-strength and super-speed.
Although there’s no release date for Black Adam, Shazam! is expected to arrive in April, 2019.
