Thirteen months after The Purge hit theaters, its followup The Purge: Anarchy makes its debut. Set in a world where all crime is legal for a 12-hour span, the original film received some flak for not delving deep enough into the concept, an issue that, judging by this trailer, seems to be remedied in the sequel.

The first teaser showcased the hapless couple running out of gas on the fateful day, but this one delves into the film's story, and includes the first appearance of Frank Grillo. From the looks of it, Grillo's character wants revenge and goes out looking for it, but winds up helping people survive.

James DeMonaco returns as writer and director for the sequel to last year's Blumhouse hit. The Purge: Anarchy opens on July 18.
