The Phoenix Rises in New “Avengers vs. X-Men” Covers

by  in Comic News Comment

As anticipation ramps up for “Avengers vs. X-Men,” Marvel Comics continues to roll out sneak peeks of the event. Following the reveal of Ed McGuinness’ cover for “AvX: Vs.” #3 and a mysterious “Avengers vs. X-Men” teaser featuring Nova, the publisher has released three new covers with a heavy emphasis on the Phoenix including Mark Brooks’ cover for “X-Men Legacy” #268, Jim Cheung’s cover for “Avengers vs. X-Men” #5 and Alan Davis’ cover for “Secret Avengers” #28.

In a recent installment of X-Position, “X-Men Legacy” scribe Christos Gage described the Legacy cast’s role in “Avx.”

“As for the situation in “X-Men Legacy,” events there are more reaction to the larger conflict — the Avengers send a team to keep an eye on the X-Men and make sure they don’t escalate matters by joining the Utopia crew,” Gage said, “but they are more watching from outside, like cops at a Mafia wedding. Oh, and don’t assume it was Cap who made the decision in all these cases!”
