The Lizard Runs Rampant in Campbell’s “Amazing Spider-Man” #686 Variant

Marvel Comics has released J. Scott Campbell’s variant cover for “Amazing Spider-Man” #686 featuring The Lizard. The issue by Dan Slott with art by Giuseppe Camuncoli kicks off “No Turning Back,” the next big “Amazing Spider-Man” arc following “Ends of the Earth.” The plot is the latest in a series of story arcs building to “Amazing Spider-Man” #700 later this year.

“What happens in #700 — everything I’ve written my entire career in comics, nothing has had this big an effect on a character than what happens in ‘Spider-Man’ #700,” Slott told CBR at C2E2 2012. “Other creators will say, ‘This will break the Internet in half,’ and ‘This will do this’ and ‘This will do that’ — this is for real! This is my biggest whack at the comic book piñata. I’m breaking it and all the candy’s coming out. It’s not going back together.”

Check out Campbell’s variant cover below and stay tuned to CBR News for more on “No Turning Back.”

But Spider-Man will have his hands full when he takes on Curt Connors, AND Morbius the Living Vampire!
