The film-to-TV trend continues, with more additions with each passing week. Deadline reports that The Illusionist is one of the latest transfers.

The 2006 period drama, written and directed by Neil Burger (Divergent), starred Edward Norton as an illusionist who uses his abilities to woo Jessica Biel's Sophie from Crown Prince Leopold (Rufus Sewell). Paul Giamatti played Chief Inspector Walter Uhl.

Written by Mark Hudis (True Blood), the CW's version will move the setting from Vienna to turn-of-the-century New York City, where a renowned illusionist returns home after a decade in prison to discover his wife has married the crime boss who frame him. Posing as an underling in the man's criminal organization, the illusionist uses magic to stage elaborate heists, allowing him to move quickly through the ranks to take down the boss and win back his wife.
