The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is a big deal. So big, in fact, that at least one of the sets will make the diminutive characters look even smaller.

The second film in Peter Jackson's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's features a scene in which Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf and their Dwarf companions hole up in a house belonging to Beorn, a skin-changer who transforms from bear to man.

The above clip shows off some more footage from the film, but also goes behind the scenes on the massive set, showing a bit of how they made it with lots of talk from cast members like Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen and director Jackson. Beorn actor Mikael Persbrandt also shows up in the clip as does his bear version, but we still haven't seen an official photo of Persbrandt in his human form.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug debuts on Dec. 13.
