THOR

Marvel has announced Natalie Portman is joining the cast as Thor love interest Jane Foster. Also confirmed are Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Tom Hiddleston. Portman is familiar from the Star Wars prequels and "V for Vendetta" and well-received smaller films. Hemsworth is probably best known for saving the crew of the U.S.S. Kelvin in the first twelve minutes of "Star Trek." Hiddleston has numerous credits on British Television. The story will center on "The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth." This would indicate earlier rumors about the script being primarily set in Asgard to be false.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, release date, May 20, 2011
