The Flash Reveals Doctor Alchemy’s Secret Identity

by  in TV News Comment

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for “Killer Frost,” tonight’s episode of “The Flash.”

The Doctor’s secret identity is out! In “Killer Frost,” tonight’s episode of “The Flash,” Doctor Alchemy revealed his true colors — and they just so happened to be Julian Albert’s.

Hospitalized after a close encounter with Killer Frost, Julian spent the night away from home, at least until he heard a familiar voice calling for him. Though he attempted to resist at first, Savitar met him outside and brought him to the CCPD. There, he stumbled towards his cabinet and pulled open the bottom drawer, only to reveal Alchemy’s plague doctor mask and robes. It looks like he’ll be rejoining Savitar’s service once more, despite his reluctance to do so.

This wasn’t the only dark move Julian made in the episode. He also ensured that Barry quit his job with the CCPD. Julian was the only person to witness Caitlin’s Killer Frost misadventure at the CCPD; as such, Barry begged him not to tell Detective Tom Patterson, who seems to very much have it out for metahumans. Julian agreed on one condition: that Barry quit. Julian feels as though a man with a moral compass as “broken” as Barry’s shouldn’t be working with the police, which — retroactively — seems a little suspect. Nevertheless, when Julian upheld his end of the bargain, Barry felt as though he had no choice but to follow through.

Killer Frost’s actions also drove a wedge between Cisco and Barry. During their first confrontation, Caitlin spilled the beans about Cisco’s brother Dante. She revealed that Dante wasn’t dead pre-Flashpoint, and that Barry was the reason he was no longer alive; that is to say, if Barry hadn’t created Flashpoint, Dante wouldn’t be dead. Cisco made it very clear to Barry that this would not be something he got over quickly and told Barry that he “doesn’t know” if they could ever be friends again.

Fortunately, it wasn’t bad news for everyone in “Killer Frost.” Joe and HR broke Wally out of his cocoon, only to discover that Wally was — unsurprisingly — a speedster. What’s more, he’s even faster than Barry was during his initial phase as a speedster. Wally is pretty keen to get started with the whole hero business, but Joe put his foot down on that. It looks like Kid Flash will have his day, but it won’t be anytime soon.

Starring Grant Gustin as the Scarlet Speedster, “The Flash” airs Tuesdays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Carlos Valdes, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Keiynan Lonsdale and more.
