Lionsgate has tapped "Age of Adaline" director Lee Toland Krieger to helm "The Divergent Series: Ascendant." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Krieger is in final talks to direct the film.

Director Robert Schwentke needed a break after working back-to-back on “Insurgent,” released last year, and “Allegiant,” which debuts March 18; as such, he departed the project earlier this month. The final installment, “Ascendant,” is scheduled to begin filming this summer in Atlanta.

Based on the bestselling novels by Veronica Roth, “The Divergent Series” stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort. The first two films in the franchise grossed a combined $585.75 million worldwide.
