The Dark Knight, Transformers, FF2: April 23rd Comic Reel Wrap

THE DARK KNIGHT

We saw some far off shots last week, but could this be the face of the Joker, courtesy of Ain’t It Cool News?

We also got an email from reader Tom Stilwell, passing on a memo that’s going around his office …

Street Closings

We have been advised that Warner Bros. is filming pre-production work on the upcoming Batman Movie through April 24th (but no celebrities yet). Listed below are the following street closures.

– Van Buren Street between Canal Street and Wacker Drive will be closed from Saturday, April 21 through Tuesday, April 24 for exterior stunt work that will involve helicopters.

– Van Buren is reduced to one westbound lane between Wacker and Canal. The east curb lanes on Jefferson from Jackson to Van Buren, on Canal from Harrison to Jackson and on Clinton from Jackson to Adams are also closed through April 25 morning. Brief intermittent closures can be expected on Canal on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.

– Detour Van Buren closure via Harrison. Some CTA routes are affected. For more information on getting around using the CTA, call (312) 836-7000

Stillwell also wrote, “They filmed many of The Narrows scenes across the street from my office (the bridges and all that) and the Bat Signal was on a rooftop nearby.” Thanks, Tom.

A page at Westside Aerobics and Martial Arts notes that Felix Valencia is working as a fight choreographer for the film. Meanwhile, you can find actual video of filming on YouTube … ah screw it, just watch it here …

HACK/SLASH

Shock ‘Til You Drop reports that Ben Magid has come on board as co-writer of the Devil’s Due adaptation.

TRANSFORMERS

IESB has grabbed some audio hidden inside the Sector 7 website that could be the voice of Starscream (or you could just grab the MP3, which reader Tom Williams alerted us to).

FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER

Pulp Secret has the word from Stan Lee about his cameo in the sequel (at the 5:50 minute mark in the video).

ALIEN VS. PREDATOR 2

Design Studio Press has posted some new photos from the Christmas-bowing sequel.

SPIDER-MAN

Superhero Hype has a deluge of interviews, including director Sam Raimi, actors Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Topher Grace, Thomas Haden Church, Bryce Dallas Howard and producers Avi Arad, Laura Ziskin and Grant Curtis. Whew!

Meanwhile, in the animated world, producer John Semper talked to Toon Zone about developing the new cartoon.

We have a brief news story on the musical version of the property, and here’s a close up photo of Venom in the web-spinning sequel. Finally, YouTube also has the UK version of the Venom trailer, or you can watch it here.

SUPER MAX

Comic Book Movie has a new rumor stating that actor Matt Damon could be in line to take on the role of the emerald archer.

HEROES

HeroSite has scans from the TV Guide spoiler-esque preview of tonight’s new episode.

SMALLVILLE

Kryptonsite has fresh spoilers from the Jules Verne Festival, stating that actor Tom Welling is signed through a theoretical season eight, Aaron Ashmore will be back as Jimmy Olsen for season seven, and Justin Hartley will not return as Green Arrow.

Meanwhile, Devoted to Smallville has an expanded gallery of images from the episode “Progeny.”

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

We can’t do this without you. The rumors, the scoops, the set photos — they’re all fueled by passionate fans emailing in the goods. The ones who ask, “What do you mean your sister’s dating somebody who works for Miles Millar?” The ones who know the code names of movie projects and scour city permit filings for them. The devoted, the involved. Fans, just like you. Whatever you know, we wanna know, and whether you want your name shouted to the web’s rafters or kept closer than a classified report, we’ve got you covered like a comforter. Broadcasting live from Los Angeles, this is your humble scribe Hannibal Tabu (web site, MySpace blog) saying thank you for your time and indulgence, and “enough talk — let’s go make with the ‘biff’ and the ‘pow’ already.”
