The CW's Supernatural spinoff is looking a lot clearer as the days go by. Soon after it was revealed the new series will be set in Chicago, executive producers Jeremy Carver and Robert Singer have offered Entertainment Weekly more details about the project.

The backdoor pilot has been slotted in as the 20th episode of Supernatural's upcoming ninth season. "We’ll have main characters who are both human and monsters," Carver said. Singer added that "families of monsters and families of hunters," will also feature heavily in the show.

The new show, described by Singer as "more of an ensemble," will also feature a new group of characters, which will give Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki an opportunity to appear and meet new people.

"Most spinoffs, you spin characters out and create a show about them," Singer said. "Jared and Jensen will be in the spinoff, but it’s an entirely different cast of characters. And unlike Supernatural – which is a road show — this will take place in one place with a wider cast of characters."

For fans who might be thinking news of a new series means the original is looking toward its end, don't worry: The CW President Mark Pedowitz assures that, "As long as they keep telling great stories and Jared and Jensen still want to do it, why wouldn’t you continue?"
