The CW’s “Riverdale” Series Casts Mrs. Lodge

The cast of The CW‘s upcoming Archie Comics-based “Riverdale” has found its Mrs. Lodge.

Announced via Deadline, “Teen Wolf” vet Marisol Nichols will portray Hermione Lodge, Veronica’s mother. The character is described as an “upscale” woman, recently returned to the small town where she’s “eager to start afresh with her daughter following the scandalous incarceration of her husband.”

So far, characters set to appear on the series include Archie (KJ Apa), Josie (Ashleigh Murray), Fred Andrews (Luke Perry), Jughead (Cole Sprouse), Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes ) and Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch). Kevin Keller will also be a character on the series, but has not yet been cast.

“Riverdale” is set to be a “subversive” take on the long-running Archie Comics characters, set to explore the “darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade.” Greg Berlanti — a major comics-to-TV success with “Arrow,” “The Flash” and “Legends of Tomorrow” — is on board as producer, and the pilot script is by Archie’s Chief Creative Officer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

“Riverdale” has already been picked up to series.
