The CW's "iZombie" television pilot, based on the Vertigo comics series of the same name, has added Robert Buckley ("One Tree Hill," "666 Park Avenue," "Hart of Dixie") to its cast.

Buckley will play Major, "a former college football player-turned-environmental engineer who is extremely likable," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The character is the former fiance of Liv, the main character, and is trying to "transition back to being her friend despite still being in love with her."

Buckley joins Malcolm Goodwin, Alexandra Krosney and David Anders, who were announced in February as also playing characters who didn't appear in the 28-issue Vertigo series by Chris Roberson and Mike Allred. The role of Liv, who was named Gwen in the comic, has not been cast.

The "iZombie" pilot is written by "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas and frequent collaborator Diane Ruggiero. The show is in contention for a spot on The CW's 2014-2015 schedule.
