The Crow remake might be closer to production than anyone thought. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, producer Ed Pressman revealed the plan is to begin filming "in the spring."

Describing the character as “the anti-Spider-Man," Pressman explained, “It still has a big fan base even though it was so long ago. But the generation today doesn’t even know The Crow.”

If you happen to be unfamiliar with James O'Barr's signature creation, Eric Draven is musician murdered in an attack that also leads to his fiance’s death. Brought back to the land of the living by a supernatural crow, he uses superhuman abilities to exact revenge on his killers. The story was adapted in 1994 into a film starring Brandon Lee, who died in an on-set accident. Three sequels and a television series followed, and a remake has been in development for a several years.

As of last year, O'Barr is actually involved in the project. Everyone from Bradley Cooper and James McAvoy to Tom Hiddleston and Alexander Skarsgard have been up for the lead role, but Pressman said no casting announcements have been confirmed.
