If Stretch Armstrong makes it to the big screen, it will have been a long journey for the toy icon. He originally had a film set up at Universal Pictures with Taylor Lautner starring, Nick Stoller (The Muppets) penning his adventure and Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens) directing. But then the studio got nervous and the project ended up at Relativity Media.
For most of this year, we haven’t heard a peep about the project, based on the Hasbro toy built to stretch and take out bad guys. But now, thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, the world knows that director Breck Eisner is in talks to helm the film.
Eisner’s best known for directing Sahara and the 2010 remake of George Romero’s The Crazies. If he signs on, he’ll work from a script by Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life screenwriter Dean Georgaris.
