Though it came only slightly ahead, "The Boss" has dethroned "Batman v Superman" from its first place slot at the domestic box office this weekend. The Zack Snyder-directed pic held the first place spot for two weeks, before getting knocked down by the Melissa McCarthy vehicle, which opened on Friday.

Deadline reports that Universal raked in $23.48 million for "The Boss" at the domestic box office -- just above "Batman v Superman's" $23.435 million this weekend for Warner Bros. They indicate that some reports suggest "The Boss" made closer to $24 million, earning about $900 thousand more than "Batman v Superman."

While "Batman v Superman" made more from Saturday showings -- $10.6 million to "The Boss'" $10 million -- the Melissa McCarthy flick earned more on Friday night, with an extra $2 million over the Batman-Superman showdown.

So far, "Batman v Superman" has made a cumulative $296.55 million at the domestic box office.

Coming in third this weekend, Disney's "Zootopia" earned $14.3 million, bringing the acclaimed animated pic to a $296 million total domestic gross.
