In an interview with Variety, Affleck says he expects the solo Dark Knight film to begin shooting in the spring of 2017. "We’re on the right track with that and everything is coming together," he says. "We’re still finishing up a script. I’m very excited."

Affleck will join a long list of actors and directors to take on the challenge of bringing the Dark Knight to the big screen. While not every movie has been well received, Affleck has nothing but praise for those who helped pave the way. "I respect all of those [Batman] movies," notes Affleck. "Christopher Nolan did an incredible job, Christian Bale did an incredible job, Tim Burton did an incredible job. At a certain point you have to look forward and try to believe in your own vision for it and not be looking over your shoulder the whole time. I go into that movie with a tremendous amount of respect for the people who came before me."

Before we see Affleck suit up as the Dark Knight in his own solo film, he’ll star in the Zack Snyder-directed "Justice League" alongside Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, Ray Fisher, Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller, due to hit theaters on November 17, 2017.
