Comic Book Movie‘s Pietro Filipponi hears word of a Skrull secret invasion in the film. He writes, “The highlight of this insider scoop (DISCLAIMER: which has not been confirmed by the studio itself) is that the shape-changing alien race the Skrulls are being used as the main antagonists for ‘The Avengers.’ Not only that, but the Skrulls will ‘brainwash’ and use the Hulk in a similar fashion Loki did in the comics. Don’t expect a full on alien invasion, though; that will have to wait for a sequel. The Skrulls’ role will be largely clandestine, similar to the way S.H.I.E.L.D. operates.” An alien invasion would raise the stakes for the film and give it a fresh villain for the cinematic version of the team to take on. Hopefully, Filipponi’s source will prove to be correct.

The show has been confirmed for a tenth season, though star Tom Welling accidentally told Hollywood Life the news the night before he was suppose to announce it at the CW’s Upfront presentation. Oops. When the show returns, Allison Mack will not be a series regular. She tells Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello, “I’m truly humbled by the love and loyalty of all the fans whose enthusiasm has carried me – along with a cast and crew which has become my second family – over the past 9 and a half years. Out of respect for the amazingly loyal fans and the place I will always have in my own heart for Chloe, I’m coming back for several episodes next season to tie up Chloe’s ‘Smallville’ legacy properly.”
Airs: Fridays this Fall
Actor Stephen Lang tells MTV News, the film is taking itself seriously. “There’s nothing tongue-in-cheek about it at all. And there’s nothing send-up about the world we’re creating, though hopefully the movie is made with a lot of wit,” he says. Now, while “Conan the Destroyer” has an injection of camp, I’d say John Milius’s “Conan the Barbarian” is a largely serious affair with some occasionally wonky production values. “To me, in spirit, the movie we’re making is lot more like ‘Jason and the Argonauts’ or ‘The 7th Voyage of Sinbad.’ It’s this huge adventure, these otherworldly things, these rip-snortners,” continues Lang.

Latino Review has a pair of TV spots for the film filled with action and hard rock-ish music. I find the first one to be slightly more interesting as there is more dialogue in it.

SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD
Here at CBR, Bryan Lee O’Malley breifly discusses the film’s cast while talking about the final “Scott Pilgrim” book. “You know, pretty much everyone was perfectly cast right from the start. The evil exes in particular were mostly no-brainers. I would say that Kieran Culkin as Wallace owned the role from the minute he walked in the room, and he’s a major scene stealer. So is Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, who has since become comic-movie-ubiquitous. And I think even if Aubrey Plaza didn’t play Julie in the movie, I’d be writing the character as her anyway – she’s dead-on and very terrifying,” he says.
Starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, release date: August 13th 2010
BEST WORST MOVIE
My review of the documentary is up at Spinoff Online. It’s an enjoyable film about the fanbase that grew around “Troll 2,” one of the worst movies ever made. As I am a bad movie aficionado, this was right up my alley.

PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME
IGN has a video interview package in support of the film:

SLOWISH NEWS DAY
It seems with Upfront week coming to end, the news cycle has ground to a halt. Nobody wants their announcement to get lost in the churn. It’s interesting to note we now have more superheroes invading network TV than ever before — despite the cancellation of “Heroes.” Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya bracing for the future threat of the weekend.
