As reported by Spinoff Online, “Kick Ass” and “X-Men: First Class” screenwriter Jane Goldman is set to script the film adaptation of Image Comics’ “Nonplayer” by Nate Simpson.
“It’s futuristic, it’s incredible,” Goldman told The Playlist. “Science fiction is not a genre I’m used to [writing], but it’s my favorite.”
Comic fans may be familiar with Simpson, who won the 2011 Eisner Award for Best Newcomer and unfortunately broke his collarbone last September, causing delays in the second issue’s release.
THE WALKING DEAD
Despite the rumors to the contrary, it looks like John Hawkes will not be portraying The Governor on AMC’s “The Walking Dead.” While actor Tom Savini had recently mentioned the show’s producers were pursing Hawkes to play the ruthless dictator of Woodbury, Georgia, Hawkes’ publicist denied Hawkes’ involvement in a quote to The Wrap
“John is NOT appearing on ‘The Walking Dead,'” Hawkes’ publicist, Karen Samfilippo, said via email.
Perhaps this leaves the role open for Savini, who had been actively campaigning to be cast in the role.
New episodes premiere February 12 on AMC.
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES
MTV Geek spoke with Richard Magallanes, Nickelodeon Senior Vice President of Current Animation, in anticipation of ToyFair 2012 about the upcoming animated reboot of the Heroes in a Half Shell.
“We’re definitely taking creative license here to work with the mutagen and make our own monsters,” Magallanes told MTV. “We have a lot of returning guys, but we’re also using inspiration from the past. We’re using what we can and also, like I said, we’re taking it to the next level. So, we’re really hoping to invent some new creatures that are going to make some fantastic toys.”
Sneak Peek airs March 31 on Nickelodeon.
DON’T GET LEFT BEHIND…
A special tip of the hat to Josh Wigler over at MTV Splash Page for bringing this cool Facebook app to light. If you’re interested in what it’s like to be a survivor in “The Walking Dead” universe, you’re in luck. AMC has launched a Facebook app that draws from the data you have stored on your profile to create a unique experience of survival horror. “Walking Dead: Left Behind” is a cool tailor-made experience told from a first-person perspective that really puts you in the heart of the action and drama. For example, when I gave the video access to my profile, I was trying to find my sister, who was listed as a missing person after the zombies hit.
