The Glaswegian purveyors of synth-pop will be making their comics debut in The Archies #2 in November, with front-woman Lauren Mayberry and instrumentalists Iain Cook and Martin Doherty taking guest star spots in December's third issue.

"Adding real bands in the mix gives the series a must-read twist and opens the door for Matt, Joe and I to get our favorite bands into Riverdale,” co-writer Alex Segura said in a press release. Segura is penning the series alongside Matt Rosenberg, with Joe Eisma providing art.

"One of the first bands Matt and I thought of was Chvrches just because they've got such a modern, fun vibe and we're both fans of the music," Segura said.

Chvrches will be the first real musical band to grace the pages of The Archies, which revolves around Riverdale's resident band briefly meeting up with various musicians as they tour the United States.

“We're taking the Archies out of Riverdale and sending them on tour across the country to experience everything a touring band goes through,” Rosenberg said. “Taking them out of their elements is really key. That plays a lot into their roles in the band and who they are."

Early sketches of the Chvrches crew can be found above, while covers for the first two issues of The Archies can be glimpsed below.

Written by Alex Segura and Matt Rosenberg, with art by Joe Eisma, Matt Herms and Jack Morelli, The Archies #1 hits comic stores Oct. 4. The issue will retail for $3.99. Chvrches make their guest appearance in #2, due to be released Nov. 8.
