This year, I decided to do something different for Fred Van Lente Day, I'm going to review one issue of Ivar, Timewalker a day, leading up to Fred Van Lente Day!

We continue with Ivar, Timewalker #4, by Fred Van Lente, Clayton Henry and Brian Reber...

A recurring theme in the first three issues of Ivar, Timewalker was whether you can actually change the events of the past or not or will time itself always find a way to keep you from achieving the feat. He was seemingly proven wrong, yet when she travels back to prevent the death of her wife, she finds herself continually unable to do so. This leads to a series of excellent set pieces by Van Lente and the book's atists, Clayton Henry and Brian Reber....

The whole "keep on trying to change history in increasingly out of the box ways" hook is a good one and it is made better by Henry and Reber's great designs for all the various Neelas running around (a fun bit was to show the different Neelas BEHIND the story).

The issue ends with a good twist, as someone shows up to let Neela know that she (Neela) can get past the limits put on other time travelers. This makes the future more uncertain than ever.

Very good overall issue.
