Telltale Games’ “The Walking Dead” series will launch its third season next week, and eager fans will find out how much their choices mattered. The developers, who keep scooping up rights to popular properties, are hopeful their new cloud-based save system will further the connection players feel toward the characters in the game.

Based on the new launch trailer for "The Walking Dead: A New Frontier," it appears that Clementine, young AJ and new playable character Javier will have their hands full with zombies and humans.

The third season picks up a few years after the end of the second. Telltale hopes to use locally saved data from previous games to affect the newest season, with players' past choices rewarded, or returning to haunt them. It's teased that Javier will be molded by your choices in the first two games. Oh ... and you meet Jesus, a character familiar to fans of the television show and comic.

The game will launch with the first two episodes, titled "The Ties That Bind, Part 1 & Part 2." A retail disc version for consoles will be available on Feb. 7, so gamers will not have a long wait for the final three episodes. Over the next two months, fans can play through the heartbreak that has becomes synonymous with Telltale's version of the world that Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard created.

"The Walking Dead: A New Frontier" launches Dec. 20 for Xbox One, PS4, Windows, OS X, iOS, Android, Xbox 360 and PS3.
