Disney Channel has ordered an animated series based on the 2010 hit "Tangled," with stars Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi set to reprise their big screen roles.

Targeted for a 2017 premiere, the series is set between the events of the feature film and the 2012 short "Tangled Ever After," with Rapunzel (Moore) acquaints herself with her parents and her kingdom. However, her irrepressible spirit and natural curiosity quickly lead her to realize there's so much more she needs to learn before she can truly accept her royal destiny. Putting her crown, and her impending marriage, on hold, she seeks out epic adventures, accompanied by Eugene (Levi), the chameleon sidekick Pascal, the no-nonsense horse Maximus, the Snuggly Duckling Pub Thugs and new addition Cassandra, a tough-as-nails barmaid.

The "Tangled" series is produced by Disney Animation Television and developed by animation veterns Chris Sonnenberg ("Enchanted") and Shane Prigmore ("The LEGO Movie"). Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater will reunite for the project.
