Summary
Tragedy Girls is a horror/comedy/crime film starring Brianna Hildebrand and Alexandra Shipp as two social media-obsessed friends living in a small midwestern town. Brianna (Hildebrand) and McKayla (Shipp) run a true crime blog titled Tragedy Girls and have a small following. He refuses when they ask for help from a friend to catch a serial killer to boost their popularity. The two decide to keep him captive to use him as the eventual scapegoat and embark on a murder spree while reporting on the missing people, but they cannot get the town and the sheriff to believe a serial killer is on the loose. After stepping up their gruesome methods, their follower count and notoriety explode. With fame comes a higher chance of exposure, and those around them are beginning to focus on the actual killers. Tragedy Girls is framed as a satire film that darkly examines the obsession with true crime content consumption and the social media age. The film was released on October 20 2017.
