Three-time Oscar nominee Sylvester Stallone will team with director Antoine Fuqua for "Omerta," a television adaptation of the final novel in Mario Puzo's mafia series that began with "The Godfather." This would mark Stallone's first foray into scripted television.

There's no showrunner or lead actress in place just yet, but Deadline reports The Weinstein Company is expected to begin shopping the project to networks -- or cable and streaming services -- soon. The Hollywood Reporter adds that filming could begin as early as this summer.

Fuqua and Stallone will serve as executive producers alongside Harvey and Bob Weinstein and David Glasser.
