Syfy plans to extend its stay in Z Nation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cable channel has ordered a second season of the zombie drama from Sharknado producers The Asylum.

Set three years after a zombie virus ravaged the United States, Z Nation focuses on a ragtag group tasked with transporting the only known survivor of the plague from New York to a lab in California in hopes that his blood holds the key to humanity's survival.

Halfway through the first season, Z Nation has averaged a little less than 1.5 million viewers. Its' seventh episode, "Welcome to the Fu-Bar," Friday at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
