Syfy has debuted a new trailer for the second season of "The Magicians," the fantasy drama based on Lev Grossman's bestselling novel trilogy.

This is actually the second trailer for the upcoming 13-episode season, and it emphasizes the same central conflict of the first. Most of the scenes take place in Fillory, a Narnia-like world where magic is dying because of the actions of The Beast, a master magician who has seized control of the land.

However, the new trailer focuses more on the logistics of ruling Fillory – "Apparently, we have enemies to the north and south" – and also includes some new footage of Julia's quest to kill the god Reynard the Fox. While Fillory's politics did not make much of an appearance in Grossman's novels, it's possible the television adaptation will expand on them for some "Games of Thrones"-esque plots.

The Magicians” centers on Quentic Coldwater (Jason Ralph) and his friends as they discover their magical abilities at Brakebills University, a secret grad school specializing in magic. While there, they come to the realization that the fantasies they read about as children are all too real, and unwittingly invite a malevolent entity from the other side into their lives.

SeasonTwo of "The Magicians" premieres Jan. 25 on Syfy.
