V FOR VENDETTA

According to Moviehole, franchise-hopping actor Hugo Weaving talked to the Herald Sun about why he came on board, replading James Purefoy. "It just wasn't working out with him and the directors," Weaving said. "It was a kind of mutual thing, I think. In a way it was quite lucky for them that 'Eucalyptus' had fallen through because I wouldn't have been able to do it otherwise."

ASTERIX 3

Both Allocine and AFP are reporting that action veteran Jean-Claude Van Damme will join the cast of "Asterix at the Olympic Games," playing Roman athlete Cornedurus. Gerard Depardieu is expected to return as Obelix, with Indian actress Aishwarya Rai on board as well. Alain Delon is playing Julius Ceasar. Christian Clavier is said not to be returning Asterix, and Frederic Forestier is rumored to be the director.

Actress Jennifer Connelly talked to Coming Soon saying, "I don't know. I haven't heard any talk of a sequel unfortunately. I'm sorry to say that I don't have any insight that I can give you. I think [Ang Lee] made a really interesting film of it, so we'll see what happens."
