This week, Project: Rooftop (www.projectrooftop.com) is teaming up with Super. Girl., a Girl-Wonder.org project, to bring you a week-long Supergirl appreciation event called “Supergirl Week”. For this entire week, Project: Rooftop will be reviewing the top picks from last month’s Draw Supergirl meme, culminating Friday with a comprehensive article on Supergirl’s costume history on Super. Girl.
“Supergirl is a more important character in comics than people tend to think. She’s actually one of the more well-known female superheroes in American popular culture, which means she’s got the potential to reach out to new readers and strengthen the industry,” said Dean Trippe, Project: Rooftop founder. “This is a chance to explore how various indie artists would handle her costuming in ways that show respect to the character and what she means to the culture at large.”
Notable artists who contributed to this include Ross Campbell (Wet Moon, The Abandoned), Les McClaine ( The Middle Man), Mike Maihack (Cow & Buffalo), and also P:R regulars Dean Trippe and Joel Priddy.
Our reviewers for this event include Project: Rooftop regulars artist Dean Trippe (Butterfly), journalist Chris Arrant (Publishers Weekly, Newsarama ), Ignatz-winning artist Joel Priddy (Pulpatoon Pilgrimage), writer Vito Delsante (Batman Adventures, JSA: Classified) and special guest reviewer Jessica Plummer from Super. Girl.
