Smith previously directed "The Flash" Season 2's "The Runaway Dinosaur," and returned to the series to helm an episode in the early part of Season 3. He has also expressed interest in directing an episode of "Arrow."

Prior to directing DC Comics-based TV series, Smith wrote the ill-fated "Superman Lives," which was to be directed by Tim Burton, and star Nicolas Cage as the Man of Steel. He also has written several comics for DC, including "Green Arrow" and "Batman: The Widening Gyre." Additionally, Smith voiced Hal Jordan on the "Duck Dodgers" animated series.

There's no word yet on which episode Smith will direct in "Supergirl" Season 2. The sophomore season premieres Monday, October 10 at 8pm ET on the CW.
