In the comics, Maggie Sawyer was Batwoman's girlfriend and a prominent member of the Gotham City Police Department. She also worked as the captain of the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit; specifically, she was part of the Science Police, which dealt with metahuman crime. Sawyer is one of the first openly queer characters in mainstream comics.

Lima is known for her role in "The Family," but she has also appeared in "The Mob Doctor," "Allegiance," "Poor Paul" and more.

The second season of "Supergirl" is scheduled to premiere October 10 on The CW, switching networks after a first season on CBS.
