Get ready for Livewire in live-action. Variety reports that Brit Morgan has been cast as Livewire on CBS' "Supergirl" series, for an "upcoming season one episode."

Created by Bruce Timm, Livewire was introduced as a villain in the '90s "Superman" animated series, voiced by Lori Petty. Based on the character description, the "Supergirl" version of Livewire appears to stick pretty closely to the original, retaining her shock-jock roots: "Morgan's Leslie is a confident, abrasive and funny shock-jock who works for CatCo Media, the conglomerate owned by Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart). When an accident makes her as dangerous and shocking as her words, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) must stop her."

The character was later introduced to mainstream DC Comics continuity in 2006's "Action Comics" #835 by Gail Simone and John Byrne, and recently returned in the pages of "Batgirl." Livewire is one of many DC Comics characters set to appear on the first season of "Supergirl," including Maxwell Lord, Red Tornado, Lucy Lane and Reactron.

Morgan is likely best known for her role as Debbie Pelt on "True Blood," but was also a series regular on another comic book-based TV series: ABC Family's "The Middleman," which ran for one season in 2008.

"Supergirl" is scheduled to debut Oct. 26 on CBS.
