The cast photo released Wednesday from the "Suicide Squad" table read raised more questions than it answered, chief among them involving the whereabouts of Jared Leto. Well, director David Ayer responded last night with another image, this time of the green-haired actor paying homage to Brian Bolland's famous cover for the 1988 graphic novel "Batman: The Killing Joke."

All that's missing is the purple ensemble, and the word balloon, of course.

Ayer and Leto have gleefully teased the Oscar-winning actor's portrayal of the iconic villain over the past month, with a series of photos, and even a potential preview of his Joker voice.

Open Aug. 5, 2016, Warner Bros.' "Suicide Squad" also stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, with Ike Barinholtz and Adam Beach in undisclosed roles.
