Fans wondering if Warner Bros.’ upcoming “Suicide Squad” movie will prevent the small-screen version of the group from returning to “Arrow” now have their answer. ETonline has word that the group of villains-turned-government mercenaries — technically “Task Force X” but better known as the Suicide Squad — will return in the 18th episode of the show’s third season, titled “Suicidal Tendencies.” And this time, the lineup will look a little different.
Bronze Tiger won’t be a part of the episode and Shrapnel died in the group’s inaugural “Arrow” appearance, but Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) and Deadshot (Michael Rowe) will both return — this time joined by Cupid (Amy Gumenick), who debuted earlier this season. The episode will also introduce Steven Culp as Senator Cray, a character from writer John Ostrander‘s original “Suicide Squad” comic books — ET describes his role as “the center of a rescue operation in the fictional Republic of Kasnia.”
The “Suicide Squad” film — separate from the continuity of “Arrow,” and set in the shared universe of “Man of Steel” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” — features an all-star cast including Will Smith as Deadshot and Jared Leto as the Joker, and is expected for release in 2016. “Arrow” airs 8 p.m. Wednesdays on The CW.
