This Friday, DC Comics, Comic Book Resources and the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund team up to host Greenest Night: A celebration of Geoff Johns’ “Green Lantern”. Limited to 100 seats, the May 24 event celebrates nine years of DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns’ time with “Green Lantern,” from “Rebirth” to the New 52. While space may be limited for the actual event at the Avalon Bardot Theater in Hollywood, there’s still an opportunity for “Green Lantern” fans everywhere to help participate in this once-in-a-lifetime event. CBR wants to hear your questions and favorite moments from Geoff Johns’ time as the steward and architect for Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps.
Whether it’s an iconic moment from “Green Lantern: Rebirth,” a personal story or memory from “Sinestro Corps War” or a question about the mechanics of “Blackest Night” and “Brightest Day,” post your comments on this special thread on the CBR Forums — they might get shared with Geoff Johns during the event’s intimate look back at his nine year run.
“The run started with Hal and Sinestro and kind of continued that relationship, which only got stronger when Sinestro became a Green Lantern again and he and Hal were forced to team up,” Johns told CBR earlier this week. “As I was building towards this next confrontation involving the land of the dead, Hal returning from the dead again and Sinestro and him having another change in their relationship, it just felt like the right time to go. Once I got through this next phase of Hal and Sinestro’s relationship and how it went all the way back to “Rebirth” and then to this point, to me, that was the right time to move on. The story decided it. I think the last issue has a lot of stuff in it that puts an exclamation point on everything we did on the run.”
Tickets are still available for the event through the CBLDF, but quantities are limited — when tickets are gone, they’re gone! Purchase of a regular admission ticket includes admission to the Q&A, plus a gift bag with special exclusive Green Lantern merchandise from Graphitti Designs and DC Comics including a signed copy of “Green Lantern” #20, Johns’ final issue on the series, which hits stores today.
Head to the CBR Forums and post your questions and favorite moments for “Greenest Night.”
