Set in the early 1980s, Netflix's Stranger Things captures what it was like to live in the era of Members Only jackets and Eggo waffles. Now, a new promo for the first season adds another staple of the decade with video game-inspired sound effects and graphics.

The promo begins on the imaginary Level 1 of the game, as the kids of Hawkins, Indiana, are introduced to Eleven with the caption box "IT'S A....GIRL!" As we move along and choices are made, the levels keep increasing while the generic soundtrack found in many video games of the 80s plays in the background. Visual cues for an energy and inventory meter are displayed at the top and bottom of the screen for the "user," letting them know their progress.

With this being Stranger Things, the inventory meter is represented by the number of Eggo waffles you've accumulated. Points are also won and lost depending on reactions from the cast, which makes for some interesting scenarios. If only a person could win sass points in real life. Finally, another fun twist in the video are pop-ups that allow a player to choose their own destiny. One example is the option to "Explore" or "Stay" when something creepy happens, or "Attack" and "Surrender" when the bad guys are in hot pursuit.

Arriving Oct. 27 on Netflix, the second season of Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono, Matthew Modine, Noah Schnapp, Joe Keery, Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery.
