The first photos have trickled out of the set of "Star Wars: Rogue One," the 2016 anthology film directed by "Godzilla's" Gareth Edwards.

Aerial shots taken at London's Elstree Studios, and published over the weekend by the Mirror, reveal stormtroopers gathered at the ramp to a ship on a set for what appears to be a desert oasis or perhaps a beach. The images aren't exactly earth-shattering -- none of the stars is shown -- but they are the first look at the standalone film.

Felicity Jones is the only actor officially announced for "Rogue One," which focuses on a band of resistance fighters who set out on a daring missions to steal the Death Star plans from the Empire (just before the events of "Star Wars: A New Hope"). However, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker and Jonathan Aris have been rumored for roles.

“Star Wars: Rogue One” opens Dec. 16, 2016.
