Never one to take too long of a break between films, Steven Spielberg has not one, but two projects in the works for the near future. No sooner had word circulated that the director might reteam with Tom Hanks for a Cold War thriller than news broke that he's attached to an adaptation of Roald Dahl's 1982 children's book The BFG for DreamWorks Pictures.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spielberg will reunite with E.T. screenwriter Melissa Mathison on the live-action project, which tells the story of a young girl named Sophie who befriends the title character (BFG stands for Big Friendly Giant). She discovers he's the only good colossus on the planet and even helps distribute good dreams to kids. The pair eventually teams up to help the British government capture all the bad giants.

Spielberg's version will mark the first live-action adaptation of the book, although there was an animated version released in 1989 on British television in 1989. The film is expected to start shooting in 2015 for an undisclosed 2016 release date.
