Of course, that’s not really a surprise as Marvel themselves got the rumor mill running fast during Comic-Con International in San Diego earlier this year. During one of their panel presentations, the publisher ran a slide that simply had the words “KING” in gold letters with a small crown above the N. Speculation ran from this being an upcoming Marvel event to the acclaimed horror writer working with Marvel.
Our own Rich Johnston has been following the rumor mill for months and yesterday updated his column to point out that UK Web site Publishing News mentioned King will write a graphic novel for Marvel to be illustrated by Jae Lee and it will form the eighth volume in King’s “Dark Tower” series.
There was a bit more news forthcoming today as Publisher’s Weekly added apparent confirmation from Marvel Comics that they’d be working with King on a “Dark Tower” installment. PW noted that the new “Dark Tower” will be published first as a comic beginning in april, later to get the hardcover treatment in the fall of 2006. Richard Isanove will color the series.
An official announcement is expected Friday. Look for more news on this story as it’s release.
