Thor actor Stellan Skarsgård is making the jump to the small screen, with TVLine reporting he has signed on for a starring role in Cinemax's upcoming thriller Quarry.

Based on Max Allan Collins' series of novels, Quarry takes place in 1973 and centers on a Marine sharpshooter who leaves the Vietnam War and returns to the United States. Shunned and shut out by those around him, the soldier finds himself lost in damnation, but quickly gains new purpose as he enters the world of assassins and corruption along the Mississippi River.

Prometheus star Logan Marshall-Green plays the aforementioned soldier, with Skarsgård coming aboard as The Broker, the mysterious man who recruits Marshall-Green's character into the fold. Noah Taylor and Skipp Sudduth are also part of the cast. The Road director John Hillcoat is an executive producer and the director of the pilot.
