UPDATE (July 26): Marvel editor Heather Antos told The Verge that the Thrawn comic will be a six-issue miniseries, debuting in February.

At a Comic-Con International panel for Lucasfilm publishing, plans were revealed for a new Thrawn-centric comic series from Marvel Comics.

The series, from writer Jody Houser (Star Wars: Rogue One Adaptation), artists Luke Ross and Nolan Woodard, and letterer Clayton Cowles, will adapt Timothy Zahn's well-received Thrawn novel that put the spotlight on the popular Star Wars expanded universe villain.

Grand Admiral Thrawn was created by Timothy Zahn in his novel Star Wars: Heir to the Empire, published in 1991. Zahn’s first three Star Wars novels eventually became known as "The Thrawn Trilogy" by fans and formed the cornerstone of what is now considered the Star Wars Legends universe. He most recently appeared on the Disney XD animated series Star Wars Rebels, voiced by Lars Mikkelsen, brother of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Mads Mikkelsen.

Star Wars: Thrawn is set to release on 2018 from Marvel Comics.
