Lucasfilm today released the first full trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The trailer aired on ESPN during the Monday Night Football halftime break for the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears game. The trailer is the first of its kind -- a teaser was released back in April.

The Last Jedi looks to follow up on the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which starred Daisy Ridley as Rey, a force-sensitive scavenger, and John Boyega as Finn, a Stormtrooper deserter. The film also brought back numerous classic Star Wars characters, like Harrison Ford’s as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher’s General Leia Organa and Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker.

The story in Force Awakens largely revolved around the hunt for the missing Luke Skywalker, and The Last Jedi looks to follow-up on the reveal that Luke has been hiding out on the distant world of Ahch-To. The film will also expand on the fight between the New Republic and the First Order, which rose up from the ashes of the dispatched Galactic Empire.

Debuting in theaters on Dec. 15, 2017, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a production of Lucasfilm Ltd. directed by Rian Johnson and starring Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.
