It seems Star Wars fans can't get enough of Porgs, the small furry/feathery creatures that are due to make their Star Wars film debut in Episode VIII: The Last Jedi.

In response to a recent fan request on Twitter, Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has now revealed some further details about the mischievous, yet loveable, little beasties.

It seems that Porgs are indeed birds. They can fly short distances and, as we already learned from their appearance in the Star Wars: Blips animated short, they can be very inquisitive. They don't even appear to have any qualms about upsetting wookies, which could wind up making them an endangered species in that galaxy far, far away...

What remains to be seen is how large a role the Porgs will play in The Last Jedi. Whatever else happens, it is probably safe to assume they will be providing at least some of the film's comic relief.

Debuting in theater on December 15, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a production of Lucasfilm directed by Rian Johnson and starring Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.
