With just over three months left until the release of the highly anticipated eighth chapter in the main Star Wars saga, two of the fan-favorite droids from generations past and present have taken center stage in a pair of official animated shorts.RELATED: Last Jedi: Snoke’s Mega Star Destroyer RevealedThe first clip features the beloved, trustworthy astromech droid from the original trilogy and the prequels, R2-D2, whose history of intergalactic heroism has apparently earned him something of a celebrity status within the droid community, as evident by BB-8 and others looking starstruck after R2 rolls casually by. The second clip showcases the aforementioned spherical stand-out from The Force Awakens, BB-8, who comes face-to-face with his evil First Order doppelganger, BB-9E.
