From Bill Hader making droid noises for BB-8, to Daniel Craig standing in as a susceptible stormtrooper, to Simon Pegg voicing the cantankerous Unkar Plutt, Star Wars: The Force Awakens was no stranger to cameo Easter eggs. According to Rian Johnson, that trend won't be ending with The Last Jedi. The director of Episode VIII recently revealed that one of his longtime collaborators and friends will be stepping in for a small role in the upcoming entry.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will lend his voice to an unnamed alien in the The Last Jedi, although that's pretty much all we know about the brief appearance at this point. Given Episode VII's past guest stars, Levitt probably won't get lengthy screen time -- he might not even be recognizable at all -- but it at least keeps up the actor's track record of appearing in each of Johnson's movies to date, from starring in Looper and Brick to appearing in an uncredited role in The Brothers Bloom.

Hitting theaters on December 15, Star Wars: The Last Jedi will also star Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.
