Guillermo del Toro has had a brush with the "Star Wars" franchise, though the acclaimed film director has no current plans to work on it. However, that doesn't mean he hasn't discussed the possibility.

In a recent interview with Collider, the director said, "There are some ['Star Wars'] characters that are great and I have talked to [Lucasfilm president] Kathy Kennedy and John Knoll about some ideas, but I want to do my shit."

Currently, del Toro's "shit" mainly focuses on animation, with his popular children's Netflix series "Trollhunters" returning for a second series later in 2017. The director has also already mapped out the show's third season, although this has not yet been greenlit.

In the interview, del Toro also spoke briefly about the dangers of discussing possible future projects or collaborations with other high-profile creators, saying, "Neil Gaiman once said 'Well, I would love to write "Doctor Strange" with Guillermo,' and all of a sudden in IMDb I had 'Doctor Strange' [as an upcoming project]."

Guillermo del Toro's next movie, "The Shape of Water," is set to hit cinemas in November 2017. An other-worldly tale set in Cold War-era America, the film will star Michael Shannon, Octavia Spencer, Doug Jones and Michael Stuhlbarg.
