Disney today released the premiere episode of Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, the micro web series that focuses on the female characters whose decisions have shaped the franchise’s universe. The debut episode, “Sands of Jakku,” focuses on Rey and her droid companion BB-8’s trek through the all-encompassing desert of the planet Jakku.

The two quickly realize that they are not alone, and that BB-8 is being hunted by a scrap-eating Nightwatcher Worm. The two flee, and eventually Rey has to use some mighty impressive spear-throwing skills to wrench BB-8 from the hungry subterranean worm’s maw. Everyone walks away happy, though, and the worm gets a hunk of machinery – not a friendly droid – to chew on.
