Star Wars Rebels almost had the Sith heavy-hitter known as Starkiller board the show as an Inquisitor. This was revealed by the character's voice actor Sam Witwer on a Twitch stream as he shed insight into his role in the Star Wars franchise.

The Smallville actor has also done animation voicework as Darth Maul on Rebels and The Clone Wars and he revealed that talks for the beloved video game character, who debuted in 2008's The Force Unleashed, had taken place. "Dave [Filoni, executive producer] did share with me, by the way, he considered making Starkiller an Inquisitor in Star Wars Rebels," Witwer said. "It didn't quite fit the story they were telling, but he did think about it because he thought that would be interesting."

In the series, the Inquisitors are Sith disciples sent by Darth Vader to purge the remaining Jedi in the galaxy, while running into conflict with Rebels' Ghost crew, led by the Jedi Kanan. This role would have matched up with Starkiller's video game history as he was taken in as a young boy under the name of Galen Marek by Vader. He was groomed as his secret apprentice due to his strong Force sensibility and took on the moniker of Starkiller as Vader used him as a pawn against Emperor Palpatine as well as to construct the Rebel Alliance with the likes of Bail Organa. Starkiller ended up being betrayed by Vader and turned to the Light Side to save the Rebels in the game.
