Entertainment Weekly has debuted the first image of the Harry Potter veteran as Captain Gabriel Lorca on the bridge of the USS Discovery. He's described as "a steely Federation starship captain who’s considered a brilliant military tactician," and he certainly looks the part.

So why isn't the ship's captain the lead on Star Trek: Discovery? Producers have indicated Discovery will be a different kind of Star Trek show. It instead focuses on Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead) as First Officer Burnham. The trailer also put a heavy emphasis on Michelle Yeoh's Captain Philippa Georgiou of the USS Shenzhou.
