Shortly after posting a photo of Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee on his Facebook, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" director James Gunn confirmed that Lee would have a cameo role in the film.

When a fan commented that he hoped Lee's "Guardians" cameo would be great, Gunn simply responded with a thumbs up emoji, which appears to confirm that Lee will indeed appear in the film. Gunn had also addressed whether or not Stan Lee would make another cameo appearance in February, but he seemed less positive about it at the time: "You guys know I'm a huge Stan Lee fan, and -- if Stan Lee is willing and able to appear in a cameo in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' -- then I hope he can do that," he wrote.

Gunn also offered a few tidbits about his relationship with Lee, including the first time they met: "I first met him 18 or so years ago and I felt inside like a crying girl meeting the Beatles backstage at the Ed Sullivan show," he shared.

He added that "we hug each other every time we see each other" and answered "yup" when asked if he is "as captivating and awesome as he is in interviews."

Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" opens on May 5, 2017.
